LECTURE AND LIVE DEMO
THE BIOCLEAR METHOD – INJECTION MOLDING WARM COMPOSITE TO TREAT ANTERIOR ESTHETIC DILEMMAS AND POSTERIOR CLASS II’S.
DESCRIPTION:
PART 1: Bioclear in the posterior: The posterior portion of this course introduces Bioclear Class II and “Calla Lily” cavity preparation designs, as well as engineering principles used in the design of new non-retentive compression-based Class i and Class II preparations. The LIVE DEMO involves the restoration of a Class II pre-prepared tooth and the polishing of the restoration.
PART 2: Bioclear in the anterior: The Bioclear Method allows you to create predictable, non invasive outcomes to and to solve anterior esthetic dilemmas that look natural with the use of direct composite. Esthetic treatments that can be rendered with the Bioclear Method include diastema and black triangle closure as well as large class III and IV composite restorations. The LIVE DEMO will show how to use the new BT matrices to close a black triangle.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Learn how to use injection molding to create infinity edge margins and mirror-smooth restorations. Anatomic Bioclear™ matrices are one of the great advancements in composite dentistry in recent years – and the method keeps evolving! This technique of composite placement allows the clinician to perform conservative, additive only dentistry resulting in strength, durability and esthetics.
Learning objectives:
– Learn how the process allows us to create monolithic restorations directly in the mouth.
– Learn how to solve anterior esthetic dilemmas such as the anterior diastema and black triangle.
– Learn how to use the clear matrices in the posterior area to restore a Class II.
– Learn how to achieve the 3 step “Rock Star Polish” for your restorations.
SPEAKER BIOGRAPHY:
Dr. Taras Konanec graduated in 1997 and is presently co-owner of Drummond Dental Group in downtown Montreal where he practices full time.
He is presently Assistant Professor and the course coordinator of the preclinical operative program at Mcgill University’s Faculty of Dentistry. He is in his 25th year teaching at the faculty in both the departments of Operative Dentistry and Practice Management. He is the 2018 recipient of McGill Faculty’s Ralph Silverstone Teaching Award.
Dr. Konanec’s passions lie in minimally invasive dentistry techniques enhanced by the use the dental operating microscope. He incorporates principles of Biomimetic Dentistry and the Bioclear Method into his daily practice and teaching. As a member of the Richard V. Tucker gold inlay/onlay study club in Montreal, he is an ardent fan of the use of cast gold in the posterior area and he still speaks to his patients about it’s long term benefits.
